Selected Actor Filmography



A graduate of the Julliard School, Roberts co-starred Off-Broadway with Sam Shepard in Caryl Churchill’s “A Number” (at the NY Theatre Workshop); the revival of “Burn This” (Signature Theatre) opposite Edward Norton and Catherine Keener; and “True Love” (Zipper Theatre). Also at the NY Theatre Workshop, he starred in “Nocturne,” for which he received a Drama Desk nomination for Lead Actor. He originated the role of “Edward Kynaston” in Jeffrey Hatcher’s “Compleat Female Stage Beauty” (at the Contemporary American Theatre Festival) as well as the role of “Chase” in Adam Rapp’s “Finer Noble Gases” (at the Humana Festival). He portrayed the legendary Sam Phillips in James Mangold’s WALK THE LINE opposite Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. Other credits include A HOME AT THE END OF THE WORLD opposite Colin Farrell, Robin Wright Penn and Sissy Spacek; director Michael Mayer’s FLICKA with Alison Lohman and Tim McGraw; Mary Harron’s THE NOTORIOUS BETTIE PAGE; Adam Rapps’ WINTER PASSING; and the hit Showtime series "The L Word."
