Selected Actor Filmography
She commenced acting the moment when she enrolled at the famous Cours Florent drama school in Paris. From there, Marina Hands went to the French National Conservatory of the Dramatic Arts, and then, to the prestigious LAMDA (The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art), where she became 100% bilingual. She soon won roles in a variety of productions: “Roxane” in Nice, directed by Jacques Weber; “Aricie,” directed by Patrice Chéreau; Nina Companeez's “Pique-nique chez Osiris” on television; the Canadian film “The Barbarian Invasions” (Oscar for Best Foreign Film); and most recently “Les âmes grises,” which earned her a César nomination (the French equivalent of the Academy Awards) in 2005 for Best Newcomer. An actress capable of performing a wide variety of characters, Ms. Hands has an equally impressive capacity to change her looks and mannerisms. As such, her work can be seen inpsychological thrillers, independent films, and several classical repertory theater productions. Marina Hands joined the prestigious Comedie Francaise in 2006 and will perform alternately in Claudel's “Partage de midi” and Moliere's “The Misanthrope” on the main stage in 2007. She can currently be seen onscreen in Guillaume Canet's “Ne le dis à personne” and Pascale Ferran's “Lady Chatterley,” for which she won the César for Best Actress.
