Hirokazu Koreeda’s Soshite Chichi ni Naru places several individuals in a Catch-22 predicament and we get to witness them wiggle themselves out of a tight one. A master of the complex family drama as best expressed in this collection of items Nobody Knows, Still Walking and Air Doll, Koreeda employed the services pop-star Fukuyama Masaharu who has dabbled in film before.
Gist: Translated as “And then I Become a Father”, this sees Fukuyama Masaharu play an elite, unlikable, money-driven, businessman who works for a major corporation. He encounters the biggest crisis of his life when he finds out that he had unwittingly raised somebody else’s son for the past 6 years because his own son was accidentally switched at birth.
Release Date: Set for it’s domestic release in October, this could show Venice and/or TIFF.
