Born to devoutly Baptist parents, Wes Craven earned an undergraduate degree in writing and psychology
from Wheaton College in Illinois, and a masters degree in Writing Seminars from Johns Hopkins
University. Prior to landing his first job in the film industry as a sound editor for a post-production company in New York, he briefly taught English at Westminster College and was a humanities professor at Clarkson College. THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT introduced the world to one of the greatest talents in cinematic horror. He followed with THE HILLS HAVE EYES and its sequel and then launched, with A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, one of cinema’s most enduring and imaginative horror series. Craven has also proven able to move beyond the boundaries of the horror genre with films such as MUSIC FROM THE HEART. His films include STRANGERS IN THE HOUSE, SWAMP THING, DEADLY FRIEND, CHILLER, THE SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW, THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS, VAMPIRE IN BROOKLYN, SCREAM (1, 2 & 3), CURSED, and RED EYE.
