Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley) returns in "A Nightmare on Elm Street," a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic. A group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another...but when they sleep, there is no escape.

What ever happened to original idea's for horror movies. I don't know since the state of the horror genre seem to be at a all time low with this pg-13 remake stuff we get every year. I blame Micheal bay's production company Platinium dunes for this because 90% of all theses crappy remakes comes from his studio.
Now having said that, what about this remake of Nightmare. Let me tell you that if your a fan of the original franchise and the 7 movies that it produces, you will probably hates this remake. Their is 2 main problem with this remake, first the script is way to serious for this type of movie. The original Nightmare was campy and didn't really need to justify why Freddy was killed compare to this one were they pretty much give him a reason to want to killed everybody since the parents are as evil as freddy was.
Secondly, Freddy himself, while i like Jackie Earl Haley and the guy did a tremendous job with what he was given, he's just not the real Freddy, For me, Freddy Krueger will always be Robert Englund and nobody else can top what Englund did with this character. Freddy is and always will be Robert Englund and changing actor for the sake of rebooting the franchise isn't going to work.
In the end this remake is pretty much just another crappy movie that release by Platinium dunes because somebody was a fan of the original and thought he could make money by remaking it.
