This is based on the third novel, of the same title, in the Ripley series by Patricia Highsmith, following The Talented Mr. Ripley (the first), and skipping Ripley Under Ground, the second novel. The continuing story of Tom Ripley, a career criminal who has amassed his wealth through various illicit activities, including murder. He is married and living in France, when the necessity arises to silence two foes who could reveal his dark past. Concocting an assassination plan, he makes a deal with a terminally ill English aristocrat desperate for money to rid him of his two enemies.
TRIVIA
Ripley's Game was previously adapted to film in 1977 as The American Friend, directed by Wim Wenders. Liliana directed the 1974 film, The Night Porter.
