Formerly titled as "If You Were My Girl", this is a modern update of the 1987 teen-comedy Can't Buy Me Love. In this multi-ethnic remake, our hero is Alvin Johnson (Cannon), a likable social outcast with a natural talent for building automobile engines, who has his sights set on finally becoming one of the cool kids. When Paris Morgan (Milian), the "It" girl of the school, wrecks her mother's car, Alvin sees this as his once in a lifetime opportunity and steps in with a plan. In exchange for Alvin's automotive expertise and her needed car parts, Paris agrees to let people believe that they are dating for two weeks. Alvin's dream is realized when his association with Paris leads him to heights of popularity unimagined as the school's new cool kid. Unfortunately, Alvin loses himself in his newfound popularity and runs the risk of losing his real friends, his chance for a scholarship, and a shot at a real relationship with the girl of his dreams.
