'Caótica Ana' tells the story of Ana, a young girl who used to live on Ibiza with her hippy father but who moves to an artists' hide-out in Madrid because she is an aspiring painter. It sees her fleeing her own fate after a hypnosis session allows her to glimpse parallel experiences she believes are past lives. The filmmaker describes the narrative as "the story-journey of Ana during four years of her life, from 18 to 22. A countdown, 10, 9, 8, 7... until 0, like in hypnosis, through which Ana proves that she does not live alone, that her existence seems like a continuation of other lives of young women who died in a tragic way, all at the age of 22, and who live in the abyss of her unconscious memory. This is her chaos. Ana is the princess and the monster of this feminist fable against the tyranny of the white man.”

Screen Daily reports that Manuela Velles will make her feature debut headlining a cast that includes Gerrit Graham, Matthias Habich, Nicolas Cazale, Ash Newman, Raul Pena and Lluis Homar. Charlotte Rampling is in advanced negotiations to take a role as well. Composer Alberto Iglesias and DP Mario Montero have also joined the production.

Screen Daily reports that Medem is preparing to shoot the pic with backing from local powerhouse Sogecine. The film is a co-production with Medem’s own Alicia Produce and is expected to shoot between Madrid, Ibiza, New York and the Canary Islands. Tenerife-based Volcano International Productions looks set to co-produce, bringing $235,000 (Euros 200,000) in funding from the Canary Islands regional government’s Subsidy Program for Audiovisual Creation.
