Based on the book and screenplay by Bill Carter, some trips are chosen, others choose you. When tragedy strikes Bill Carter’s life, he finds himself drawn to a war zone. Sharing his extraordinary journey into a modern heart of darkness, we meet a shattered man rebuilding the ruins of his former self in the most unlikely of places. Living in an abandoned tower block and delivering supplies to the citizens of war-torn Sarajevo, Carter becomes part of a community of inspirational people who will lend him the key to his own recovery. In return, he daringly enlists the help of supergroup U2 and sets up satellite broadcasts to the Zooropa world tour, giving the people of Sarajevo a voice, and he goes on to direct and produce the award-winning documentary Miss Sarajevo.
