Steve Allison's script is a contemporary adaptation of Shakespeare's "Hamlet". It is set in the small town of Lamarque, Texas, the sister city to Elsinore, Denmark. After the sudden death of Cletus (Willis), his father and his mother's (Barkin) abrupt and unexpected marriage to his uncle Sheriff Tanner Telmah (Malkovich), young Adair Telmah (Hartnett) is confused and depressed. And when his father's ghost appears to him, claiming that he's been murdered by Tanner, Adair is baffled to the point of madness by the goal of vengeance set for him by his dead daddy.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Josh Hartnett has been cast in the indie pic which is being produced by Marshall Rawlings and his Alturas Films banner.

Production Weekly reports that John Malkovich, Ellen Barkin, Alison Lohman and Bruce Willis will star in the independent feature, to be directed by Malcolm Venville. Lohman plays Opal Coals, Adair's girlfriend. Production is scheduled to begin mid-December in Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana.
