The film will be based on Ian Fleming's first Bond novel, which was set during the Cold War (the 2006 version eliminates the Cold War setting) and focused on a gambler named Le Chiffre who tries to reclaim a fortune he lost for SMERSH, the Communist secret enforcement unit. Bond is teamed with female agent Vesper Lynd, who later helps him recover after he is brutally tortured.
TRIVIA
After Goldeneye (1995). this is Campbell's second time as helmer of a James Bond film.
