SYNOPSIS

This is about a man who’s given up on life and a woman and her three daughters who renew his will to live. Monte Wildhorn (Freeman) is a famous Western novelist but his struggle with alcoholism has sapped his passion for writing. Disgruntled and wheelchair bound, Monte resigns himself to living out the third act of his life in a rented lakeside cabin in the picturesque town of Belle Isle in upstate New York, filling his long, bleak days with drinking and ignoring his typewriter. That is until the family next door – Charlotte O’Neil (Madsen), an attractive single mom, and her daughters befriend Monte, forcing him to engage in the world and, quite possibly, help him find inspiration again.
