SYNOPSIS

In the shocking opening sequence, a restless, rebellious young Dutch sculptor named Erik Vonk (Rutger Hauer) beats a man to death and then shoots his date between the eyes. He goes home and masturbates while looking at a photo of the dead woman. He then strangles the same man and woman, only to come home to sweep debris from his home. Erik, who is obsessed with images of his lover Olga (Monique Van de Ven), whom he almost kills in a car accident involving a sex act. Their rocky relationship, complicated by her protective mother, leads to marriage. But Erik's selfish contempt for materialism, his boorish behavior, and his growing jealousy causes her to lose respect for him. She goes to America. He misses her. She returns, but with a lethal surprise.
