Claire’s Knee: Dori Oskowitz Adds Hope Davis to “Claire”

Music video director Dori Oskowitz is adding more “family” members to the American remake of Eric Rohmer’s Le Beau Mariage. Joining the already cast Jenna Malone and Alex Karpovsky in what looks to be a triage/third wheel type of dramedy, THR reports that Hope Davis has been added to the cast in a supporting role. Claire is the Oskowitz’s directorial debut.

Gist: Written by Juan Iglesias and Jonathan Saba, this centers on an eccentric twentysomething woman living in Long Island with her aunt and teenage cousin. Fed up with her married lover, a painter named Simon, Claire (Malone) decides to get married herself, deciding upon a man she barely knows (Karpovsky), her best friend Katherine’s cousin (Davis). An absurd and humiliating quest to find love and a husband, but not necessarily in that order, follows.

Worth Noting: Saba is Vice President of Marketing for Saban Films. Perhaps this will be housed under the distribution label.

Do We Care?: We took a look at the wildly inventive directors reel – it’s impressive stuff. We’ll be looking out for this film sometime in 2016.
