2017 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Anthony Onah’s Dara Ju

A project that has been long in the works for a while now as it was originally a short of the same name, Dara Ju in its feature length shape was part of Sundance’s 2014 Producing Lab, IFP (the No Borders Program) and Film Independent (the Directing Lab) programs while Anthony Onah was profiled in Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces and took part of Sundance Institute’s Catalyst Initiative. Filming took place last March with thesps Lucy Griffiths and Aml Ameen toplining.

Gist: A young Nigerian-American financier struggles with love, family, and a prescription drug dependency as his ambitions steer him down a criminal path.

Eric Lavallée is the founder, CEO, editor-in-chief, film journalist and critic at IONCINEMA.com (founded in 2000). Eric is a regular at Sundance, Cannes and TIFF. He has a BFA in Film Studies at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. In 2013 he served as a Narrative Competition Jury Member at the SXSW Film Festival. He was an associate producer on Mark Jackson's This Teacher (2018 LA Film Festival, 2018 BFI London). In 2022 he served as a New Flesh Comp for Best First Feature at the 2022 Fantasia Intl.
