TIFF ’17 Loads Up on Canuck Offerings from Côté, Nguyen, Lavoie, Zweig, Veninger, Pat Mills & Blake Williams

Denis Villeneuve and Xavier Dolan might not make it to the party with their studio and Cannes 2018 bound anticipated pics, but the Toronto Int. Film Fest has loaded programmes within their 2017 edition with several world preems from important Canadian auteurs. Among the eyebrow raising offerings are the North Americans preems to the Venice Film Fest selected Eye on Juliet from Kim Nguyen (3) and Locarno Film Fest items from Denis Côté (A Skin so Soft) and former IONCINEMA contributor Blake Williams‘ feature film debut PROTOTYPE (1).

A pair of pics that are worth keeping an eye out for is Simon Lavoie‘s fifth feature film in less than a decade in b&W offering The Little Girl Who Was Too Fond of Matches (4) and Pat Mills‘ third outing with Don’t Talk to Irene (2) – both items are among the half dozen or so offerings that are included in the yet to be announced Contemporary World Cinema section. Here are the selections.
