The memoir deals with Gilbert’s travels in Italy, Indonesia, and India following a vicious divorce. She travels abroad from her New York suburbs and the result is, to quote Amazon.com, a “sprawling yet methodical travelogue of soul-searching and self-discovery.” Sounds like perfect fodder for a Julia Roberts picture.
As for the director Murphy, well he’s been on a winning streak since he created a show called “Nip/Tuck.” He adapted and directed the much-anticipated big screen version of Augusten Burroughs’ memoir Running With Scissors. He also has two more films in pre-prod, Need, and Dirty Tricks, a Watergate drama starring many of Murphy’s Running with Scissors stars.
