The Gist: Based on the novel by Peter Cameron and Ruth
Prawer Jhabval's screenplay, this sees Omar Metwally as an Iranian-born
graduate student at the University Of Kansas who travels to Argentina
to seek permission from the family of a deceased Latin American author
to write his authorized biography.
Fact: This is Ivory's first project since the passing of Ismail Merchant - his longtime producer died in 05'.
See It: Incredible varied cast Laura Linney, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Alexandra Maria Lara, Hiroyuki Sanada and Anthony Hopkins (now in his 4th project with Ivory) and beautiful backdrops should make for a very watchable fair.
Release Date/Status?: Legal issues might have complicated matters, but a release this year is probalby going to follow a major film festival premiere - perhaps a Cannes premiere.
