Great 'Vengeance' and not so Furious Anger for Thurman

Uma Thurman is replacing Maria Bello and is thus set to star along her Pulp Fiction/Kill Bill co-star Samuel L. Jackson in a role that will call on the actress to play beaten and bruised, which we at IONCINEMA.com prefer over her gigs in comedies - especially the rom com kind.

In Vengeance: A Love Story, which unfortunately no longer goes by the thought provoking Joyce Carol Oates novella's title Rape: A Love Story, we are witness to an act of unbelievable brutality that twists the lives of three generations of women and sets a man of the law on his own course of justice. On the Fourth of July, Niagara Falls Police Officer John Dromoor (Jackson) is flagged down by 12-year-old Bethie Maguire (Abigail Breslin). Her mother, Teena Maguire (Thurman), has been brutally raped and left for dead. Moving at a relentless, compelling pace, the story of Teena and Bethie unfolds in this powerful and thrilling drama.

Scripted by John Mankiewicz, this will be Harold Becker's first film since Domestic Disturbance (2001). Production begins next month in Michigan.

I thought Uma was starting work on Eloise in Paris. What happened to that?

It's funny how this storyline takes place in Niagara Falls but yet is shooting in Michigan. When are film-makers actually going to realize that film-goers aren't stupid?
Probably shooting there because they can save a few bucks on incentives... but the truth is that NOBODY is gonna guy that the Michigan landscape looks anything like Niagara.
Sounds like this thing is going to be slapped together.

Review: Spring Fever

Review: Spring Fever

A heavily flawed film that does a disservice to its quintet of characters by abruptly ending each character's final chapter before it even begins making Spring Fever a film that never manages to find itself. Audiences who've followed his past efforts such as Purple Butterfly and Summer Palace will be puzzled by erotica without reason, by the undefined terms in which the characters are set in and the lack of dramatic focus.

Interview: Amir Bar-Lev (The Tillman Story)

Pat has a very wide appeal and people who admire him come from different parts of ideological spectrum. So we didn't want to alienate a part of our audience because the film is about Pat more than anything. So we wanted to invite everybody to the dialogue of what actually happened to him and the country at the time.
