Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami's latest film, his first filmed outside his native country, will be banned from Iranian cinemas. THR reports that Iranian Cultural Ministry officials won't allow Certified Copy to show in theaters which only means that cinephiles will go the common route of watching the film and the Italian countryside by sharing underground, DVD copies of the film. I also imagine that a flawlessly beautiful Juliette Binoche on celluloid would not be welcomed no matter what the narrative was.
The to be expected to show in Cannes next year title is based on an original script by Kiarostami, this tells the story of a British author (William Shimell) who travels to Italy to hold a conference on the relationship between originals and copies in the art world. During the conference he meets a French art gallery owner (Binoche). The author plays along but the innocent charade becomes a dangerous game as the lines between reality and make-believe blur. Together, they head to San Gimignano in Tuscany. during their trip, they explore all stages of a love relationship... a story about love but not a love story.
