Biel gives more than ‘a Little’ to United Artists

Jessica Biel has signed on to UA's Die a Little, based on the novel by Megan Abbott. The film will be a co-production between Richard Gladstein's FilmColony banner (The Nanny Diaries, Finding Neverland, Killshot) and Biel's own Iron Ocean Films.

The novel centers around a schoolteacher, and her LAPD detective brother- as their lives are torn apart by the arrival of a mysterious woman. While the book takes place in 1954 Los Angeles, the film will be updated to the present day. Screen writing duo Marcia and Geoffrey Blake are writing the screenplay.

This could be a very important project for Biel. We all know that she's an extremely beautiful woman, but so far her onscreen roles have not been that interesting.  She tried to escape her “hot chick” typecasting with the film Home of the Brave, where she played an Iraq war veteran.

This sounds like a potentially cool little noir throwback. It will be interesting to see which role Biel ultimately ends up playing- the schoolteacher or the mysterious woman. Biel would make a great femme fatale.
