2014 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Adam Wingard’s The Guest

Sundance's Trevor Groth has a special place in his cinephile heart for Adam Wingard's filmic output - allowing the filmmaker to present the V/H/S...

Sundance 2012: Adam Wingard, Katie Aselton and Nicholas McCarthy Stock Park City at Midnight Section

New proof that mumblecore is heading into a natural fitting genere of horror, Katie Aselton's Black Rock and V/H/S - the project helmed by Adam Wingard, David Bruckner, Ti West, Glenn McQuaid, Joe Swanberg, Radio Silence featuring Joe Swanberg, Calvin Reeder, Adam Wingard, Sophia Takal and Kate Lyn Sheil are a pair of highly anticipated titles that'll be shown in Park City at Midnight. Among our correct predictions we find Nicholas McCarthy's The Pact and Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim's wacko Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie.

TIFF 2011: Goldthwait, Sanchez and Wingard: Midnight Madness Strong on U.S Indie

In the hours leading up to the unveiling, TIFF Programmer's Colin Geddes teased twitter followers on the make-up of his bijou section. Nine world premieres and one item from this year's SXSW in Ben Wheatley's Kill List are the make-up for this year's ten nights of Midnight Madness screenings, and of the 10-pack, film buyers have eight available items for North American pick-up with several US options, excluding Kill List which belongs to IFC Midnight and Livid early on) which Dimension grabbed early on.

TIFF 2011: Vanguard Section Holds Headshot World Preem, Venice’s Love and Bruises, Locarno’s Year of the Tiger, Cannes’ Snowtown and Oslo, August 31

While last year we got such items as Monsters, Our Day Will Come and Adam Wingard's A Horrible Way to Die (he returns to the line-up this year in the Midnight Madness section), this edition appears to be a cut above, they've got a pair of excellent features we caught back in Cannes with Joachim Trier's Oslo, August 31 (Un Certain Regard) and Justin Kurzel's Snowtown (Critics' Week). A highly touted item from Venice has also made the cut, and we're especially glad that we'll be able to see Tahar Rahim violently and emotionally lose it in Love and Bruises - Lou Ye's first film in another language and perhaps his "comeback" film of sorts.
