Deemed as a showcase for innovative new filmmakers, some noticeable inclusions begin with a Greek film hitting the Venice Film Festival that we've profiled on more than one occasion (ATTENBERG), and the world premieres for: Shawn Ku's Beautiful Boy and an opposite sounding title in Abe Sylvia's Dirty Girl, we have Max Winkler's directorial debut Ceremony - featuring Uma Thurman, and a Filmmaker Magazine 25 New Faces mentioned Arielle Javitch and her debut film, Look, Stranger.
Among the more interesting picks in the titles mentioned above, we have scribe Rebecca Zlotowski's directing debut with the pairing of some hot French thesps in Léa Seydoux and Anaïs Demoustier, there is David Robert Mitchell's SXSW entry that gets a second life via this section and another Swedish-French production is hitting the section this year, with what appears to be an awfully unique project from Ola Simonsson & Johannes Stjärne Nilsson.
Compared with last year, Fortissmo Films come packing with only a single title, but that doesn't mean their sales agent won't be spending pretty much the entire festival from their rented office balcony. They signed a fairly ambitious deal with Fox - first time I've heard of a major studio outputting their titles to a films sales company of this nature and they've got one receiving a world preem at the festival in Sergei Loznitsa's My Joy.
