Currently in the fine-tuning the script and financing stages of his Untitled Western period pic, and now in the post Goodbye Solo phase (the theatrical run is in it's final weeks/month with the DVD release coming out this August 25th), Ramin Bahrani will be making a trip out the Venice Film Festival for two reasons: he is one of three members on the international jury for first works, and second, he'll be presenting a short film entitled, PLASTIC BAG which will premiere as the opening night film of Corto Cortissimo (the short film section).

After a stellar limited theatrical release that saw Goodbye Solo make a superb box office run (for an indie film!) and obtain the kind of crucial critical support from heavyweight film journalists that will bring this film towards further year-end accolades, Ramin Bahrani's seminal work is receiving its release on DVD this August 25th via Lions Gate Entertainment.

Opening today at the Angelika, Ramin Bahrani and Souléymane Sy Savané will be present at the Goodbye Solo screenings tonite, Saturday 7pm & 9pm and the 3pm & 5pm shows. Its the best film of the year so far.

Souléymane Sy Savané is professionally trained actor – this is his first film. Red West you know his history. Elvis Presley’s best friend and bodyguard (Memphis Mafia), all the films with Elvis all his character roles in Hollywood with Oliver Stone, Altman, Coppola, and films like Roadhouse and Glory Road. But this is his first leading role. Their faces were critical.
