2012 Cannes Film Festival Predictions: Sandrine Bonnaire’s J’enrage de son absence

Published on

Gist: After a ten-year long absence, Jacques comes back into Mado’s life. Of course, she is by now married to someone else and has 7 year-old boy, so she’s not exactly chomping at the bit to get back with her former lover. While this film looks to be less overtly autobiographical than the beautiful French actress’ first feature – 2007’s Her Name is Sabine – publicity materials cite a heavy personal account embedded in this film’s narrative.

Prediction: Bonnaire’s debut film was screened in the Directors Fortnight five years ago, but this jump into scripted narrative, and a big name like William Hurt attached, could initiate an upgrade into a fight for the Palme.
