Radius-TWC Finds “Supermensch” Groovy Baby; Myers’ Docu Slated for 2014

Published on

Among the more curious offerings at this year’s TIFF, actor-comedian-writer turned docu-helmer Mike Myers is among the lucky ones in a post-festival timeline to grab a deal less than a week after the red carpets were put way. Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon has been picked up by the Radius-TWC folks for a North American release. They plan to release the film in early 2014.

Gist: From the TIFF guide: “Making playful use of archival footage, new interviews, and his own close relationship with the legendary talent manager, Myers reveals a man who has embraced his dualities: a harddriving dealmaker who wants everyone to be happy, a rock ‘n’ roll hedonist who yearns for a family. Against a backdrop of debauchery, he’s a man on a spiritual quest. These contradictions make him a fascinating documentary subject.”

Worth Noting: Myers first met Shep when negotiating a song for use in Wayne’s World.

Do We Care?: Outside of Shrek, Myers hasn’t really grab our attention in recent time and he doesn’t get enough cred as a discerning artist. We’re interested in seeing if his creativity knows no bounds.
