Les visiteurs: Alice Rohrwacher Time Travels to the FilmLinc with “My Bitter Land”

Published on

A salient initiative that has so far provided distinct auteur voices such as Andrea Arnold, Lisandro Alonso and Athina Rachel Tsangari with early script support, Alice Rohrwacher is headed in the direction of Manhattan in October for NYFF with, not unlike Claire Denis, a science fiction genre item. Variety reports that the European filmmaker will take part of the Film Society of Lincoln Center and Jaeger-LeCoultre filmmaker in residence with her next feature: My Bitter Land. Launched in 2013 to support filmmakers at the early stage the development of their work. Look for who’ll be attached as producers in the near future.

Gist: This follows a man living on the margins of society who can travel through time.

Worth Noting: Rohrwacher saw her debut film (Corpo Celeste) break into Cannes and in 2014, The Wonders won the Grand Jury Prize.

Do We Care?: Taken aback by her sensitivity and tonally vast The Wonders, it’ll be a treat to see what boundaries this auteur is able to push within the genre.
