It’s Miller’s Time: Mad Max: Fury Road Receives Cannes Film Fest Invite

In an odd leap frog announcement, the Cannes Film Festival have announced an Out of Competition selection that is not the opening film for the 68th edition. George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road will receive it’s world premiere on day 2 of the fest at the Grand Théâtre Lumière. A cornerstone in dystopian action genre and Ozploitation, the cult franchise’s fourth film comes three decades after the third installment. Miller launched the series in 1979 (Mad Max) before filming Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981) and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (1985).

Mad Max: Fury Road transports us to a post-apocalyptic world in which gangs clash over scare petrol and water resources. Max Rockatansky, played by Tom Hardy, comes face to face with the Empress Furiosa (Charlize Theron), who is fleeing a gang in hot pursuit…
