Lightning Strikes Twice; Tribeca Film Picks Up Tribeca Film Fest Preemed “Struck By Lightning”

Published on

It appears that Tribeca Film does indeed have a ferocious appetite these days especially for films that played at the recent edition of the Tribeca Film Fest. Today’s catch Struck By Lightning – is Brian Dannelly’s long awaited sophomore feature and also happens to be the break-out in terms of writing cred for actor Chris Colfer. A late 2012 theatrical release is planned coinciding with probably new episodes from television’s Glee.

Gist: With a cast that also includes Allison Janney, Dermot Mulroney and Christina Hendricks, this centers around High school senior Carson Phillips (Chris Colfer) was destined for bigger things than his close-minded small town could ever offer. He was on a path to greatness, but destiny had a different plan when he was suddenly killed by a bolt of lightning in his school parking lot.

Worth Noting: Colfer most recently penned the television movie, The Little Leftover Witch.

Do We Care?: We weren’t sold on Saved! back in 2004, but we had the inkling that Dannelly might break out as a filmmaker, instead television has preoccupied the helmer since. Mainly curious in comparatively seeing how he works within the indie teen-film comedy once again.
