Published on

For those with an aversion to film musicals – I think that this French number may just be the one to win ya’ll over. A palpable, likeable little film (that’s been featured at the major film festivals commencing with Cannes) is going to be premiering March 21st with some in-person screenings just prior with director Christophe Honoré showing up at the Rendez-Vous with French Cinema week in NYC. For a quick peek check out the trailer and feast your eyes on the poster one sheet below.

Love Songs (Les Chansons
d’amour)
to spark their stalled relationship, Ismaël (Garrel) and
Julie (Sagnier) invite Alice (Hesme) to come live with them, forming an
emotionally charged love triangle. As Julie confesses to her sister Jeanne
(Mastroianni) and mother (Brigitte Roüan), she loves her boyfriend but can’t let
Alice go. Everything changes when tragedy strikes and these young people must
deal not only with the reality of loss but also with the fear that love might
never return. For Ismaël, that process will lead him to Erwann
(Leprince-Ringuet), a college student whose affection and innocence might offer
Ismaël another kind of future.
