The European Film Academy have announced this year’s nominations for the EUROPEAN DISCOVERY – Prix FIPRESCI, an award presented annually as part of the European Film Awards (23rd edition) to a young and upcoming director for a first full-length feature film, and leading the pack we have the front-runner and more known Venice winning title of 2009 in Samuel Maoz’s Lebanon (an Israel/Germany/France co-production) and also from Venice of the same year, Giuseppe Capotondi’s La doppia ora (The Double Hour). Completing the five noms, there’s Florin Serban’s Berlin Film Festival-winning If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle (Film Movement) along with Germany’s Feo Aladag’s When We Leave (Olive Films) and overwhelming 2009 Locarno winning favorite in Urszula Antoniak’s Nothing Personal (Olive Films) – see pic above.
