C.R.A.Z.Y’s filmmaker joins Scorsese

French Canadian filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée's C.R.A.Z.Y is an example of how a breakout local, national film can surpass borders and become a festival hit – and when it becomes a hit Hollywood beckons the smartest and the brightest. I can just imagine the reaction when Martin Scorsese comes knocking on the door. 

Variety reports that Scorsese and the Initial Entertainment Group's Graham King are reteaming to produce The Young Victoria. Canadian helmer Jean Marc Vallee will direct from a script by Julian Fellowes (Vanity Fair, Gosford Park).

The pic will focus on the first, often turbulent, years of the monarch's rule — she became queen at 18 — and her legendary romance and marriage to Prince Albert. Devastated by her husband's death in 1861, she wore black for the rest of her life and remained largely secluded.

Trivia side note: The project was introduced to King by Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson.
