Providing a slither of hope for the thousands of aspiring screenwriters, lightning has struck not once, but twice for David Guggenheim. Not to be confused with doc filmmaker Davis Guggenheim, the former Us Weekly editor who probably never paid for a Robert McKee seminar, has had the good fortune of selling Safe House to Universal last month, Los Angeles Times’ Steven Zetchik featured the writer, and today Guggenheim, can perhaps put a down payment on a first home as he has sold his second script to Summit Entertainment.

With the under 25 demo in mind, Puzzle Palace follows a kid who gets locked in a police station trying to steal evidence and has to escape crooked cops to get out. The thriller was bought in one of those multi studio auctions looking for the next best thing in original screenplays. Madhouse’s Adam Kolbrenner is exec producing and Temple Hill, the company behind the Twilight Films and future smaller items such as Dan Rush’s Everything Must Go is attached to produce. THR mentions that Summit is buying into something in the vein of “Disturbia” — clearly the kids who are downloading still have the appetite for the theatre experience.
