It’s a case of better late than never for So Yong Kim’s directorial debut – a film that seduced juries and the public since it preemed at Sundance back in 2006. Variety reports that Kino International has picked up In Between Days and pegged it for a June 27th release at Gotham's IFC Center – a limited theatrical release will follow.

Fresh off her stay at Cannes, Yong Kim is currently prepping Treeless Mountain, the project was selected for Sundance Institute’s 2006 Directors Lab and was one of 15 selected for the 2007 edition of the Cannes Film Festival’s Atelier de la Cinefondation.

Days is co-written by Kim and hubby Bradley Rust Gray and tell the tale of Aimie a newly arrived Korean immigrant teenager, who has fallen in love with her best and only friend, Tran. She tries to express her feelings for him, but is scared of losing their friendship. Their misunderstood affection for each other creates a delicate relationship that is challenged by the demands of living in a new country. To spend more time with Tran, Aimie drops out of her English class, which she is failing. She fights against her mother who wants to remarry and then realizes she’s losing Tran to an Americanized Korean girl. Aimie’s world becomes more isolated, until she is forced to look inside herself for answers.
