It’s perhaps after a sighting at Austin Fantastic Fest last month where Magnolia Pictures’ Tom Quinn was able to gauge the commercial prospects for a Norwegian film which looks to be a cross between Starship Troopers and The Blair Witch Project. Via their Magnet Releasing label, the mythical race of trolls might become fashionable with The Troll Hunter. The company has picked up the rights to originally titled Trolljegeren, and will set commercials director André Øvredal’s horror/adventure film sometime next year.

The Troll Hunter is a sensational documentary which exposess the Norwegian Government’s monumental efforts to hide the sensational news that trolls actually exists in Norway – and has done so over millenniums. Within the corridors of the Government there is a secret department – The Troll Security Service – who’s job is to monitor the trolls. They also have the power to call in a Troll Hunter to cover up problems if trolls break out of their reservations.
