Disturbia pair have ‘Eye’ on Spielberg idea

When you have too many high profile projects going on at once and wear one too many hats (producer, director, etc) then it just makes sense to peg new talent to execute your other projects. Dreamworks were pleased with the returns on Disturbia – it’s easy to see why Steven Spielberg might have been smitten as well. Variety is reporting that Shia LaBeouf and director D.J. Caruso are re-pairing for a thriller set to shoot this fall.

Penned by Dan McDermott and based on an original idea by Steven Spielberg, this will get a reworking by Hillary Seitz.
Eagle Eye should see  LaBeouf play a young slacker whose overachieving twin brother has died mysteriously. When the young man returns home, both he and a single mother find they have been framed as terrorists. Forced to become members of a cell that has plans to carry out a political assassination, they must work together to extricate themselves.

LaBeouf has become the go-to kid for a slew of Dreamworks projects and Spielberg obviously liked the young thesp enough to get him on board the currently filming Indiana Jones & The City Of Gods, while Caruso has become a protégé of sorts first lending a hand on High Incident – a series that Spielberg exec produced.
