Double Your Fun: Miguel Arteta’s Youth in Revolt Trailer

Two Michael Ceras for the price of one? There would have been a time where I would have said pass me the rope let’s get this over with, but starting today, the kid is okay in my books (note: probably not for long). Got to admit that in this crazy year of double your fun with double mint perfs in Moon, the upcoming Leaves of Grass and now Youth in Revolt, the concept of two in the same frame (Gondry did it best most recently with Adaptation) would normally have been lame – but it’s proving to be less gimmicky and a lot more alluring than what I had thought. This trailer surprisingly looks half-decent, which begs the question: why on earth did Dimension Films delay the release?

Based on C.D. Payne’s novel, this is about Nick Twisp (Cera), and his goal to win the heart of Sheeni (Portia Doubleday) and hopefully lose his virginity along the way, a quest that coincides with the breakup of his parents. Miguel Arteta directed the pic – perhaps using the same blunt tone found in his last film, The Good Girl circa 02′.
