Film in Pictures: Guillaume Canet’s Little White Lies

Here’s a batch of stills from Guillaume Canet’s third film as as a filmmaker. Little White Lies receives its world premiere at TIFF, and follows in the footsteps of Tell No One, which raked in about 6 million U.S — a monster success for a film with subtitles.

Here’s a batch of stills from Guillaume Canet’s third film as as a filmmaker. Little White Lies receives its world premiere at TIFF, and follows in the footsteps of Tell No One, which raked in about 6 million U.S — a monster success for a film with subtitles.

Written by Canet, the ensemble pic sees a group of friends spend the month of August together at one of their holiday homes on the Cap Ferret. Max, a successful restaurant owner, and Véro, his eco-friendly wife invite a merry group of friends to their beautiful beach house to celebrate Antoine’s birthday and kick-start the vacation. But, this year, before they all leave Paris, their buddy Ludo is hurt in a serious accident, which sets off a dramatic chain of reactions and emotional responses. The eagerly anticipated vacation leads each of the protagonists to raise the little veils that for years they have draped over what bothers and upsets them. Pretences become increasingly hard to keep up. Until the moment when the truth finally catches up with them all. I love this b&w picture of Canet directing Marion Cotillard (first time he directs his wife) with François Cluzet of Tell No One fame and Benoît Magimel and other cast in the background.

An ensemble cast which includes: François Cluzet, Marion Cotillard, Jean Dujardin, Benoît Magimel and Gilles Lellouche

François Cluzet – makes it two for two with Canet.

Gilles Lellouche – most recently can be seen in the first Mesrine film, has appeared in all three of Canet’s films.
