Max Minghella Moves into Politics This ‘March’

Call this the “Social Network” week for casting. Armie Hammer gets cast in a film for Eastwood. Jesse Eisenberg is working on an indie film right before the holidays, and post Xmas, we can expect to see Max Minghella join the great ensemble in The Ides of March which was formerly known as Farragut North. Minghella has landed the role of Ben Harper.

Gist: I’m a sucker for these type of films and I figure plenty of yous will be as well. This is based on Beau Willimon’s original screenplay and play, Gosling plays a press spokesman for a candidate running in the presidential primary for the Democratic Party ticket. Clooney will play the candidate, a state governor with White House aspirations. In the play, the press agent falls prey to backroom politics, the manipulations of veteran political operatives and the seduction of a young intern. Giamatti plays a rival campaign manager, Tomei plays a reporter for the New York Times, and Wood plays an intern for the campaign.

Worth Noting: Minghella appeared in Stephen Gaghan’s Syriana playing the son of George Clooney’s character.

Do We Care?: Consider this one of the rare studio projects we’re are actually highly anticipating for 2011.
