McGregor, best known for his harrowing addiction with heroine (Trainspotting) and his lightsaber techniques in his role in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith will lead the cast for Franklyn set to begin filming in London in early 2007.

The futuristic film is a split narrative set in both modern day London and a future metropolis that is ruled by religious fervor. Four lost souls, – Esser, Milo, Emillia, and Preest – are divided by two parallel worlds, yet end up on a collision course where a single bullet will determine the fates of all four. With charismatic characters and a uniquely sci-fi interpretation, the film looks to be another score for the Hanway Films group, who has signed on for global distribution.

The flick is helmed by newbie Gerald McMorrow, who also penned the script. McMorrow’s sole previous credit was Thespian X, a sci-fi short about a man in a dystopian world who attempts to find employment. The short garnered the TCM prize at the 2002 London Film Festival.
