One of the rare Slamdance acquisitions, Picturehouse and New Line have announced a deal that sees Picturehouse get distribute the documentary in theaters this summer and sees New Line make the doc into a comedy.
The King of Kong is about rivals battling for supremacy in vidgame Donkey Kong. It chronicles a rivalry between two gamers, Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell, as they battle for the title of world champ of the arcade game. Helmer Seth Gordon will also come aboard to direct the NL project.
