Plum Pictures sees Zobel is no ‘Turkey’

Published on

If I'm Craig Zobel right now I'm thinking its been a pretty sweet twenty-four hours. First the great news: Gotham Awards nominations aplenty (for Great World of Sound) and now, no more living from paycheck to paycheck (read our very own IONCINEMA.com's Laura Newman's intervew with Craig here) as the Hollywood Reporter reports that the filmmaker (a David Gordon Green clan member) will be directing his sophmore feature early next year.

Another S-Carolina project, Turkey in the Straw revolves around a race for county commissioner in a small town that takes an unexpected turn when one candidate shoots the other.

Written by Zobel and Barlow Jacobs (Low and Behold), the dark comedy will be backed by NY-based production house Plum Pictures with DGG most likely going be on board as an exec producer. Kim Jose (exec producer on DGG's All the Real Girls) will produce with her new banner Elephant Eye.

It will be nice to see what Zobel can do with more production money and if he will retain the docu-appeal that was found in his maxed out credit card budgeted GWOS.
