While we await the release of another pol themed film in Lions for Lambs, Variety reports that Redford is looking to direct Against All Enemies –
a project that was once set up with Paul Haggis in the director's chair but has since found itself with different producer's backing the pic.
The trade reports that Columbia Pictures had been developing the project, but the studio put it into turnaround last month. Capitol Films picked the project up and is raising financing. Redford's deal is pending financing.
Tracy Falco is attached to produce as well.
Based on counterterrorism expert Richard Clarke's controversial best-seller and scripted by Jamie Vanderbilt, the book has been at the center of the current national debate about America's readiness to respond to terrorist threats before Sept. 11. Clarke, who worked in the administrations of both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, appeared before the 9/11 Commission the week the book was published. During that hearing, he testified that the Bush White House didn't consider terrorism “an urgent issue” in the months before the al-Qaida attacks on New York and Washington.
