The premiere North American film festival for all things genre film-like (horror, fantasy and crazy stuff from Asia) has just landed a bald eagle. The Fantasia Film Festival will close out their current edition with a major coup which comes in the shape of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. From what I gather, this would be the film’s North American premiere (the festival’s publicist sent me an email asking me to mention this as a “Special Presentation” screening instead. The special screening takes place on the 29th, a good 3-4 weeks before its August 21st release. One of the Nazi scalp collectors Eli Roth will be pumping up the crowd beforehand as the special guest of the event.

I’d be curious to see exactly what changes, if any were made. Last I heard they added a full minute to the picture which is at least a good twenty minutes too long. If you were looking to watch the film in French Canada this is how the poster would look like. Direct translation for the movie title: The Commando of Bastards.
