TIFF 2010 Buyer’s Club: #6. Malcolm Venville’s Henry’s Crime

There’s no flawed logic in Keanu Reeves taking a rom com lead. Yes, it’s been done before and though rare, still appears to work. This will need a big boost at the fest for serious offers.

#6. Henry’s Crime

The Gist: Scripted by Sacha Gervasi, after serving three years in prison for a bank robbery in Buffalo that he did not commit, an amiable but aimless man (Keanu Reeves) decides to rob the bank for real. His plan involves infiltrating a local theatre company, but his scheme gets complicated when he falls for the company’s lead actress.

Director: Malcolm Venville — Sales Agent: Parlay Films

Selling Point: There’s no flawed logic in Keanu Reeves taking a rom com lead. Yes, it’s been done before and though rare, still appears to work. This will need a big boost at the fest for serious offers.

Suited For: This could be a rare major studio pick-up — perhaps from a company looking to fill up a schedule void with this harmless looking, easy to market title.
