Top Posters of 2010: #8. White Material

This poster sticks with me. It lingers and haunts. I love the choice of font, the boldness of the letters and particularly that the central character stands in front of the title. Regardless if IFC simply grabbed from the U.K Quad, I love the titling, a sort of “stay out” cautionary sign that of course addresses the situation in which Isabelle Huppert’s character find herself in.

8. White Material (U.S Theatrical Poster)

Distributor: IFC Films
Tagline: In the African heat, one woman stands alone
Comments: This poster sticks with me. The shot is pulled from one of the film’s closing sequences and Huppert in the middle of nowhere carries a discourse of its own — not knowing which future direction to take is emblematic of the character’s dilemma.
