Trailer: Feminist Point of View in Ozon’s Potiche

The film’s trailer comes across as slightly over the top, a little zany, and perfectly suited for mainstream audiences, and I’m liking the whole 70’s, feminist vibe, hairdos and knitted sweaters.

It appears that Francois Ozon’s Potiche, the light-hearted drama that wasn’t good enough for Cannes, has found a sweet spot among the film critics in Venice. To be shown at TIFF, Variety says the dramedy is “full of hilarious plot reversals often fueled by sex or infidelity, leaves ample room for three showy supporting turns: Jeremie Renier as Suzanne’s Kandinsky-crazy son, Karin Viard as Robert’s secretary and mistress, and Judith Godreche as the household’s daughter”. And of the film’s lead in Catherine Deneuve, they call her performance “pitch-perfect”, which I can imagine will translate into a César Best Actress nomination.
