The Hollywood Reporter reports that Bregman’s A Likely Story will produce and will find financing for Oranges.

During a week where Anthony Bregman gets to witness how the public will react to the release of a dramedy in Charlie Kaufman‘s directorial debut (you’ll need to see it twice folks), the indie producer is throwing his weight behind another “comedy-drama”, this time with writers Jay Reiss (The Year of Living Biblically and Man-Witch) and newbie scribe Ian Helfer.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Bregman‘s A Likely Story will produce and will find financing for Oranges – a pic that focuses on a man who has a romantic relationship with the daughter of a family friend, turning the lives of the man and the family upside down. It’s being called ‘American Beauty’ if ‘American Beauty’ had more comedy.” Sign me up.

Here’s a pic that I took of co-producers of Spike Jonze (left) and Bregman (out-of-focus) moments before Cannes’ press conference for Synecdoche, New York. Bregman’s next release in Nicole Holofcener’s latest comedy seems ripe for a premiere at Sundance just like her Friends With Money a couple of years back.
