What Woody wants, Woody usually gets. He could work with just about any French actress, even the notoriously difficult starlets would jump at the chance to work with Woody, but apparently he’d rather go the supermodel-turned-singer-turned-France’s first lady route.

The idea came to him via his visit with the Sarkozys, and now according to the Spanish daily El Mundo (remember that Allen’s European films are being funded via a Spanish company Mediapro deal) Carla Bruni has accepted the offer of a part in the Untitled Paris Project that will begin shooting in 2010. Other news sources are denying the above statement. With no other players mentioned, the big question: how big of a role would she receive?

Mr Allen, 73, revealed last June that he would love to work with the first lady. “I’m sure she would be wonderful,” he said. “She has charisma and she performs, so she’s not unknown to an audience, and I would cast her in many different ways.
“I don’t have a story at the moment but, you know, maybe even I’ll ask her, if she’s interested,” said Mr Allen, who is planning to make a film in Paris next summer.

This would be a second film with a master helmer for Bruni. She played herself in Robert Altman’s 1994 film, Pret-a-Porter. (The Telegraph via The Playlist)
