Delpy Prepping 2 Days in Paris Sequel…in New York

Scripted by Delpy, 2 Days in New York centres again on French woman Marion (Delpy), who has broken up with Jack and now lives in New York with their children. Her Parisian family come to visit her, but the cultural differences between her eccentric father and new American boyfriend will turn out to be explosive. Meanwhile, her sister has had the "good" idea of bringing an ex-boyfriend from Paris and there is the pressure of an upcoming photography exhibition.

Truly, Madly, Delpy

There are many reasons to love Julie Delpy. She’s gorgeous, talented (writer, director, actor, singer, smoker extraordinaire), and French (how can you not like that accent?). Now the Parisian artiste has given us one more reason to love her – 2 Days in Paris. No, it’s not a contest from Travelocity; it’s Deply’s new screenplay in preproduction. Deply, who received an Oscar nom in screenwriting for Before Sunset, will direct, edit, and star opposite Adam Goldberg.

Sundance 2012: Heavyweight Auteurs Spike Lee, Rodrigo Cortés, James Marsh and Stephen Frears Populate Premieres Section

Sundance will have some heavyweight auteurs in the shape of Spike Lee, Rodrigo Cortés, James Marsh and Stephen Frears for the Premieres Section. Among the 15 selected titles, worth highlighting are Leslye Headland’s debut, "Bachelorette" which stars Kirsten Dunst, we’ve got Julie Delpy’s 2 Days in New York and a Blacklist favorite in Celeste and Jesse Forever. Count on Lee’s Red Hook Summer, Cortés’ Red Lights, Marsh’s Shadow Dancer and Frears’ Lay the Favorite to garner the most buzz.

Key Players in the 2011 Cannes Market: Rezo

The French Sales Agent, Theatrical Distribution and Production company based out of Paris comes to the fest with a pair of items (Cristian Jimenez's Bonsai and Liza Johnson's Return) but Rezo also got a pair of must sees in Julie Delpy's 2 Days in New York (which we could technically find at TIFF and will once again back a Stéphane Brize project -- his A Few Hours of Spring is currently in pre-production.

Key Players in the Cannes Market: Rezo

Last year the sales/production/distribution company hit a triple (in the prize category) with Dolan's I Killed My Mother, this year they move up a section into the UCR with Heartbeats (see pic above). Worth noting in the sales department is Antoine Blossier's debut horror film Prey (which I was hoping would find a spot in Cannes this year) and Julie Delpy is calling up her parents for a sequel to her rom com, 2 Days in Paris. with 2 Days in New York.
